The LEAP Program is designed to enhance Disease Management of a specific subpopulation of IBS victims with a “physician and patient” centric protocol where no such protocol currently exists. Existing Clinical Practice Standards for IBS recommend, “…provide patient reassurance and help with dietary and lifestyle modifications” and suggest that “…psychological treatments and support…” may also be required. However, no patient-specific effective protocol for the primary care physician or specialist is provided. None has been available.

The team of LEAP physicians, technologists, and dietitians set out to fill this gap. LEAP now provides the caregiver and the patient a structured, highly patient specific, turnkey protocol to implement without guesswork or major face-time investment. LEAP also minimizes the discouraging sacrifices and tedious effort that normally has to be made by the patient to attempt to isolate an oligoantigenic diet by conventional means. A tool for effective IBS-specific patient self-administered stress and anxiety reduction, developed by a Board Certified Gastroenterologist and Clinical Psychologist, is also incorporated into the LEAP Program.

LEAP is a proprietary emerging-technology driven solution to a problem, which has vexed millions of IBS sufferers and their Physicians, ever since the first patient moaned “Uh-Oh!” It has been a short time since the core technology was developed, patented in the United States (late 2000), clinical protocols were completed, and the first Clinical Affiliate LEAP Physicians began implementing LEAP with their own IBS patients (late 2002). Yet substantial numbers of IBS victims and their physicians have already experienced the dramatic symptomatic relief LEAP brings the patient, and the resultant reduced burden upon the practice and the healthcare system.
